The Sunday Painter is pleased to participate in Condo 2026, a collaborative exhibition by 50 galleries across 23 London spaces, with Moments before seconds after, a solo presentation by C. Mae Bloom. The gallery will be hosting Jhaveri Contemporary from Mumbai alongside Kendall Koppe from Glasgow.

Moments before seconds after brings together small sculptural compositions by C. Mae Bloom (b. 1992) that trace time, memory, and the ways objects accrue meaning. Each assemblage—referred to by Bloom as a “constellation”—combines found objects and repurposed materials, blurring distinctions of scale and temporal register. The artist creates worlds that are at once intimate and expansive: close inspection reveals discrete fragments, while collectively the works suggest provisional universes held together by the relationships between their parts.

At its core, Bloom’s practice examines how value becomes attached to objects—through use and care, through the residues of previous ownership, and through imagined narratives layered onto things. She is drawn to items that bear traces of making and of living, where the flawed and the earnestly crafted carry equal weight. In her hands, an object’s origin—found or fabricated—becomes secondary; each element is subjected to the same process of scrutiny, recombination, and renewal.
